Center for Access and Restorative Engagement

Initiatives for Campus Support

As a part of the Division of Campus and Community Engagement (DCCE), Initiatives for Campus Support is a centralized resource for the development of a welcoming campus climate. This unit provides an online anonymous experience form for university community members to share their campus climate experiences that are concerning and helpful. Peer support is provided through consult without referral (unless required by law such as Title IX) and by sharing university and community resources. Proactively, Initiatives for Campus Support assists with organizational and departmental planning efforts. Categorized information regarding submitted experiences is shared with the university community to expand transparency and enhance a sense of belonging for students, staff, and faculty.

What is a campus climate experience?

A campus climate experience impacts the engagement of students, staff, faculty, alumni, or visitors at UT Austin (on or off campus), affecting their access to campus resources, learning opportunities, or sense of belonging, and can be concerning or helpful. Examples may include:

  • Interpersonal interactions in a class, workplace, or program;
  • Written communications, such as a comment, email, flyer, graffiti;
  • Something that physically or otherwise enables or hinders access to the university
