Name: Gregory Jason Dey
Major: Finance (Investment Management focus)
Project: I named my project “What is the Value of Studying Abroad?”. My project consists of interviews with two groups: one group is my peers from the Dubai and Abu Dhabi trip, whom I asked a series of questions leading up to whether or not they would accept full reimbursement of trip expenses, with time value of money accounted for, at the cost of having no recollection of the trip. The other group was people how have never studied abroad, whom I asked why they hadn’t and where they would like to study abroad if given the opportunity.
Why This Project: I decided to go with this project because it allowed me to incorporate my major (FV of a $) and one of my interpersonal skills (communication/conversation) while still focusing on bringing awareness to lack of representation in study abroad programs.
Why GSF: I decided to be a GSF Scholar because studying abroad instilled a new confidence in myself that aided me in advancing both my academic and professional development positions. GSF gave me an opportunity to share my experience with my peers and hopefully continue to share the confidence that was shared with me.
Favorite DCCE moment: My favorite DCCE moment was having the amazing opportunity to go home to my native country of Ghana for the first time with some of my Heman Sweatt brothers and DCCE director Dr. Devin Walker.
